Apoptotic and total photoreceptor nuclei were counted along 60 μm lengths of the outer nuclear layer of mice at 7 mo post-injection (8 mo of age). Average total photoreceptor counts: uninjected Rpe65-/- = 106.8 ± 22.9, rAAV.RPE65 injected Rpe65-/- = 134 ± 30.3, uninjected C57 = 213.5 ± 3.3. All data are mean ± S.D. Scale bar: A-C = 20 μm.
